DEMOGRAPHIC DATA

Grulla Elementary School is located east of the Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District.
The Highly qualified staff includes: 27 regular classroom teachers, 11 instructional assistants, 2 physical education teachers, 1 reading intervention teacher, 1 Reading Interventionist, 2 special education resource teachers, 1 special education self-contained teacher, 1 dyslexia teacher, 1 computer lab teacher, 1 secretary, 1 clerk, 1 PEIMS clerk, 1 LVN, 1 CNA, 1 librarian, 1 counselor, 1 assistant principal, and 1 principal. Currently, two tutors have been hired to address at-risk and migrant populations.
In support of the academic program, the school provides a computer lab for grades Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade. Our school also offers programs such as physical education, Gifted and Talented, U.I.L., counseling (Drug Free), science lab, and a Nutritional and Health Program.
Grulla Elementary has a peak enrollment of 560 students from Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade. The students are of Hispanic descent. Due to its migrant population, the school has a high mobility rate. To ensure that the needs of all students in the campus are met, the Grulla Elementary staff has aligned the instructional program with campus and district initiatives.
